Bassoon trio - SKU: IZ.BCMW162 Composed by Robert McClure. BCMCC (Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition). Score and Parts. 44 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #BCMW162. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.BCMW162). 9 x 12 in inches.Desert Miniatures: Insects was commissioned by Trio Sonora: Robert BeDont, Travis Jones, and Martin VonKlompenberg. The piece reflects on my time living in Tucson, AZ and all of the different types of insects that thrive in the Sonoran Desert. Each miniature selects a particular behavior or quality each insect possesses and explores it musically. Separate from the musical depiction of the insects was the central concept quasi-unison and the hyper-instrument. Instead of treating the three parts as individual important and mutually exclusive, the parts work together to form an imaginary instrument capable of polyphonic sound production. Through micro-polyphony and rhythmic irregularity, this hyper-instrument performs quasiunison gestures that resemble columns of sound rather than melodic lines.I. Many Hued GrasshopperI encountered many of these grasshoppers while hiking in the late summer and early fall months. They are brightly colored with purple and red accents against green wings and powerful light-green legs. As I would walk through tall grasses in the mountains, the path would explode with many grasshoppers leaping all around me. These bursts as well as the grasshopper's signature buzzing sound are the focal point of the miniature.II. Cactus BeeThese bees are solitary and live underground. They collect the nectar of cactus flowers. The bassoons combine to create a flurry of activity representing a particular bee going about her daily business of collecting nectar and returning to her subterranean nest.III.Arizona Red Spotted PurpleThese butterflies employ an ingenious evolutionary tactic for survival: mimicry. They look very similar to the Pipevine Swallowtail, a blueish-black butterfly that is noxious for birds to eat. Even more, the caterpillar of the Arizona Red Spotted Purple employs mimicry through resembling bird droppings or other objectionable material. Mimicry is the primary musical device employed in this miniature.IV. Fire AntAnyone who has ever accidentally stepped on a Fire Ant hill knows how painful the stings are. This unfortunately happened to me on my first day as anArizona resident. While each ant is an individual, the workers carry out simple and direct tasks. It was this quasi-unison behavior plus the martial and driving force of survival that informed the musical treatment of this miniature.

Large Ensemble Choir - Level 3 - SKU: A0.750721 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Brendan Elliget. Folk. Score and parts. 68 pages. BJE Music #3521159. Published by BJE Music (A0.750721). Waltzing Matilda is Australia’s most widely known folk song, and one that has been popularly suggested as a potential national anthem. The song narrates the story of an itinerant worker (swagman) making a drink of tea at a bush camp (billy) and stealing a sheep (jumbuck) to eat. When the sheep’s owner (squatter) arrives with three police officers (troopers) to arrest the worker, he drowns himself in a small lake (billabong) and goes on to haunt the site. The tune is most probably based on the traditional Scottish song Thou Bonnie Wood Of Craigielea. The original lyrics were written in 1895 by the poet and nationalist Banjo Paterson, and it was first published as sheet music in 1903.This is a straightforward but useful arrangement for concert band and SATB Choir. It can be used as an accompaniment to the singing of the traditional words with an extra chorus and the key change or played as an instrumental. An optional Piano Part (with Vocal Lead and Chords) and an SATB Choir part are included with the PDF.If you want additional parts eg Horns in Eb or Trombones in TC, just email me. [Score updated 18-05-2018]The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer. Grade = 3 Duration = 3 mins Key: Eb Major to F Major (Last verse)Suitable for a school or community Group.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.802564 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 17 pages. Peet du Toit #5793495. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802564). Sergei Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2, is one of the composer's most famous compositions. Part of a set of five piano pieces entitled Morceaux de fantaisie, it is a 62-bar prelude in ternary (ABA) form. It is also known as The Bells of Moscow since the introduction seems to reproduce the Kremlin's most solemn carillon chimes. Its first performance was by the composer on 26 September 1892, at a festival called the Moscow Electrical Exhibition. After this première, a review of the concert singled out the Prelude, noting that it had aroused enthusiasm. From this point on, its popularity grew. This work was one of the first the 19‑year‑old Rachmaninoff composed as a Free Artist, after he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory on 29 May 1892. He performed this new work for the first time at one of the concerts of the Moscow Electrical Exhibition on 26 September 1892. It was printed the following year as the second of five Morceaux de fantaisie (Op. 3), all dedicated to Anton Arensky, his harmony teacher at the Conservatory. Because at the time Russia was not party to the 1886 Berne Convention, Russian publishers did not pay royalties, so the only financial return he ever received for this piece was a 40 ruble (about two months' wage of a factory worker) publishing fee.The prelude has been arranged for orchestra in several versions. It has been used in many films, and many songs have sampled it. I thought it would sound great on brass instruments if played well. Well, here it is for you to play well. Enjoy!

Guitar - Intermediate - SKU: ZY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. 5 pages. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (digital) (ZY.DO-1522). Son originalité continue de résonner dans le monde entier depuis son décès à la fin du mois de mai 2001.Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA.After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music.Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter.Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French!Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001.

Peet du Toit #962372. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1377777). Molly Malone (also known as Cockles and Mussels or In Dublin's Fair City) is a popular song set in Dublin, Ireland, which has become its unofficial anthem. The Molly Malone statue in Grafton Street was unveiled by then Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alderman Ben Briscoe, during the 1988 Dublin Millennium celebrations, when 13 June was declared to be Molly Malone Day. The statue was presented to the city by Jury's Hotel Group to mark the Millennium. On 18 July 2014, the statue was relocated to Suffolk Street, in front of the Tourist Information Office, to make way for Luas track-laying work to be completed at the old location. The song tells the fictional tale of a fishwife who plied her trade on the streets of Dublin and died young, of a fever. In the late 20th century a legend grew up that there was a historical Molly, who lived in the 17th century. She is typically represented as a hawker by day and part-time sex-worker by night. In contrast she has also been portrayed as one of the few chaste female street-hawkers of her day. There is no evidence that the song is based on a real woman, of the 17th century or any other time. The name Molly originated as a familiar version of the names Mary and Margaret. While many such Molly Malones were born in Dublin over the centuries, no evidence connects any of them to the events in the song. Nevertheless, the Dublin Millennium Commission in 1988 endorsed claims made for a Mary Malone who died on 13 June 1699, and proclaimed 13 June to be Molly Malone Day.A variant, Cockles and Mussels, with some different lyrics, appeared in Students' Songs: Comprising the Newest and Most Popular College Songs As Now Sung at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, ... Union, etc in 1884.

Published by Chicory Music (A0.734337). HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING - Clarinet Quartet w/opt. Acoustic Bass and Drum Set Parts Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is a Christmas carol that first appeared in 1739 in the collection Hymns and Sacred Poems, having been written by Charles Wesley. Wesley had requested and received slow and solemn music for his lyrics, not the joyful tune expected today. Moreover, Wesley's original opening couplet is Hark! how all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings.[1] The popular version is the result of alterations by various hands, notably by Wesley's co-worker George Whitefield who changed the opening couplet to the familiar one, and by Felix Mendelssohn. In 1840, a hundred years after the publication of Hymns and Sacred Poems, Mendelssohn composed a cantata to commemorate Johann Gutenberg's invention of the printing press, and it is music from this cantata, adapted by the English musician William H. Cummings to fit the lyrics of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, that propels the carol known today. This arrangement, in the clarinet friendly key of F concert, can be preformed as a quartet with or without the optional acoustic bass and drum set parts. No extremes in range or technique are required to play this intermediate level piece. Your performers and audience will enjoy the modern harmonies used in this presentation. Performance time approx. 2 minutes 6 seconds.

Published by Abundant Silence (A0.1173377). The Poison Arrow by Grisha Krivchenia For Piano, Violin, and Violoncello, Advanced, 34 Pages The title of The Poison Arrow refers to one of the Buddha's sermons. A young man comes to Siddhatta Gotama with a barrage of ontological questions: how long has the universe been in existence, who created it, etc. Gotama replies with an analogy:It's just as if a man were wounded with an arrow thickly smeared with poison. His friends & companions, kinsmen & relatives would provide him with a surgeon, and the man would say, 'I won't have this arrow removed until I know whether the man who wounded me was a noble warrior, a priest, a merchant, or a worker.' He would say, 'I won't have this arrow removed until I know the given name & clan name of the man who wounded me.'[...]The man would die and those things would still remain unknown to him.*In the Buddha's teaching, speculative philosophies are not important; what matters is figuring out how to overcome suffering in everyday life. We will all die without answering the mysteries of physics and metaphysics. So the appropriate thing to do is to focus significant attention on living a better life here and now.The first movement of The Poison Arrow depicts suffering, and a frantic, often fruitless, attempt to find a way out. The second movement is a depiction of life without suffering, completely placid and free.

I am a Singaporean pianist and composer. I have studied the piano since 5 years old under Mr Joseph Toh and I graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2013, majoring in Music Composition under Malaysian composer Mr Chong Kee Yong and Singaporean composer Mrs Joyce Koh Bee Tuan. About Two Army FantasiesTwo Army Fantasies is composed in 2014. They are composed during my time serving the army. The 2 pieces are The Attack on a Red Ant on Me and Monkeys Dancing in the Rain. I composed The Attack on a Red Ant on Me after I was bitten by a small red ant in a grassy area while I was accompanying some workers. The last cluster chord is to be played brutally and crispy as a revenge! I composed the Monkeys Dancing in the Rain as a homage to the monkeys living in the forest near my army camp. Sometimes i wonder what the monkeys are doing when it is raining. Do they hide in their trees? Or dance in the rain, just like how this piece is depicting. Two Army Fantasies is dedicated to my student, Mr Remus Toh. .

Published by Marcelo Borba (A0.1273068). Arrangement for 4 voices choir. Shosholoza is a popular South African folk song that has a rich history and cultural significance. The origins of the song can be traced back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, during the time of the South African gold and diamond mining boom. The word Shosholoza is believed to have been derived from the Ndebele and Zulu languages and translates roughly to go forward or make way for the next person. It was initially a call used by train drivers and mine workers to synchronize their movements while pushing and pulling railway cars or working in the mines. The song's lyrics and melody evolved over time through oral tradition, passed down among the workers as a form of communication, motivation, and solidarity. The rhythm and repetitive chanting helped the workers maintain a sense of unity and cooperation during physically demanding and often harsh conditions.During the era of racial segregation and oppression in South Africa, Shosholoza became an anthem of resilience and hope for the black South African population. It symbolized their spirit of endurance and unity in the face of adversity, and it came to be associated with the struggle against apartheid. With time, Shosholoza gained popularity beyond the confines of the mines and railway yards. It became a well-known folk song, performed by choirs, musicians, and cultural groups across South Africa and around the world. It embodies the spirit of ubuntu (the belief in the interconnectedness of all humanity) and has been used as a symbol of South African identity and pride. In modern times, Shosholoza continues to be celebrated as a cherished piece of South African musical heritage. It is often performed during sporting events, cultural festivals, and gatherings as a way to celebrate unity, strength, and resilience.Overall, Shosholoza remains a powerful reminder of South Africa's history, the struggles its people endured, and the enduring spirit of hope and solidarity that transcends adversity.

Published by J Garratt Composer (A0.1029072). 'The Hammer & Anvil' is the piece that adorns the balustrade of the band stand in Parade Gardens, Bath, UK. The band stand was forged by the National Heritage Ironwork Group as a gift to the city during their 2018 'BathIron' festival. The piece is written for 2 treble clef parts and a bass clef part and can be performed by any group of instruments. For the original performance it was performed on 2 Bb Clarinets and a Bass Clarinet.About the piece:'The Hammer & Anvil' is derived from the melody of an English folk song about a blacksmith (ironworker) which has been adapted and augmented to be used as a melodic foundation throughout the piece, similar to an isorhythm in medieval compositions. The piece is in two sections: the A section where the folk melody is confined to the bass and the B section where the melody is split between all three parts. A repeated rhythmic motif, representative of an ironworker using his hammer and anvil, is used to accompany and/or decorate this melody.

Small Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.917411 Composed by Gregory Fritze. Contemporary. Score and parts. 68 pages. Musica Nova USA #6434383. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917411). Aliento Fanfare was composed in 2020 in tribute to the hospital workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The word Aliento means breath in Spanish. In many cities and towns around the world at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, hospital workers were cheered every night at 7:00 PM by the people who were locked down in quarantine. At this time especially, hospital workers were called on to help everybody through the pandemic. Aliento Fanfare was premiered by the C.I.M. La Armonica of Buñol, Spain on November 21, 2020 conducted by Jose Tello Espert. It was later arranged for orchestra brass and percussion and a virtual performance was placed on YouTube by players of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Both versions are included in this publication and they may be used interchangeably if desired, to expand the orchestral brass by adding a 4th trumpet and adding a vibraphone.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and performer. His compositions have been performed more than one thousand times in twenty-six countries. He has written over one-hundred compositions for orchestra, band, chamber ensembles and soloists. He has won over sixty composition awards both nationally and internationally, including First Prize in the TUBA International Etude Composition Competition in 1991 for Twenty Characteristic Etudes to Tuba.
